Linearised Categories

چکیده
In this note we study several ways of turning a small category into a ringoid. We refer to such processes as linearisation, for lack of a better name. Although this material is very abstract, our main application is concrete: the category Mod(X) of sheaves of modules over a scheme X can be viewed as a localisation of a category of modules over a ringoid, very naturally constructed from the structure sheaf of the scheme. We freely use the notation and concepts introduced in our notes on Algebra in a Category. We allow noncommutative rings and noncommutative sheaves of rings. Throughout all additive topologies are right additive topologies (notation of our Localisation of Ringoids notes).

Unique factorisation lifting functors and categories of linearly-controlled processes
We consider processes consisting of a category of states varying over a control category as prescribed by a unique factorisation lifting functor. After a brief analysis of the structure of general processes in this setting, we restrict attention to linearly-controlled ones. To this end, we introduce and study a notion of path-linearisable category in which any two paths of morphisms with equal ...
متن کاملLinearised and non-linearised isotherm models optimization analysis by error functions and statistical means
In adsorption study, to describe sorption process and evaluation of best-fitting isotherm model is a key analysis to investigate the theoretical hypothesis. Hence, numerous statistically analysis have been extensively used to estimate validity of the experimental equilibrium adsorption values with the predicted equilibrium values. Several statistical error analysis were carried out. In the pres...
متن کاملBoundary conditions for metric fluctuations in Lifshitz
We consider the quantisation of linearised fluctuations of the metric and matter fields about a Lifshitz background, exploring the possibility of alternative boundary conditions, allowing the slow fall-off modes to fluctuate. We find that for z > 2, slow fall-off modes for some of the linearised fluctuations are normalizable, which opens up the possibility of considering alternative boundary co...
متن کاملOff – Shell Hodge Dualities in Linearised Gravity
In a spacetime of dimension n , the dual graviton is characterised by a Young diagram with two columns, the first of length n−3 and the second of length one. In this paper we perform the off-shell dualisation relating the dual graviton to the double-dual graviton, displaying the precise off-shell field content and gauge invariances. We then show that one can further perform infinitely many off-...
متن کاملRevisiting Horn and Schunck: Interpretation as Gauss-Newton Optimisation
In this paper we revisit the Horn and Schunck optical flow method [1], and focus on its interpretation as Gauss-Newton optimisation. We explicitly demonstrate that the standard incremental version of the Horn and Schunck (HS) method1 is equivalent to Gauss-Newton (GN) optimisation of the non-linearised energy, consisting of the sum of squared differences (SSD) criterion and diffusion regularisa...
